About
Lunch
Jeomshim means lunch in Korean. In Korean culture, one of our most common greetings is asking whether you ate. 밥 먹었어? If you’ve seen a Kdrama or Korean movie, or have eaten at a Korean restaurant or with a Korean family, you know that meals are a main part of our community building.
So this site is about nourishment.
The words, phrases, and expressions on each of the items are about liberatory work, organizing, and living in community. They are about how we relate and how we can fight moving forward. Yes, even the green onion scallion shirt.
Sizes
The sizes are different for each product. One shirt may have different size scales from another shirt on this site. Why? Because the shirts are from different sources, and are different textures, makes, and shapes. Make sure you check the sizing charts for each product as you purchase.
Prices
The prices are higher than we would like them to be. Why? Because of the capitalist colonial manufacturing supply chain that removes us so far from the point of origin.
All pieces are made-to-order, meaning the item only gets made when someone orders that item. One method that some places use to keep costs down is to mass produce inventory. We did not want to do this, so we opted to choose a made-to-order approach. This helps to reduce waste in this world of land theft.
In addition, we live in an ableist and fat-shaming world that penalizes disabled and fat people by making varied sizes more expensive. Instead of doing this, we have made all sizes the same price.
We have kept the prices at the minimum level to just break even. Depending on what sizes people order and where they are shipping to, there are many months we have taken a loss. And other months balance it out so that we break even.
Reason
The reason for this place is that people kept asking for it. It’s also just to bring some joy to our lives that are constantly bombarded with oppression and dictators. We are not here making money, as you can see from the section above, but we are here making joy.
Let’s eat.
